VMI Group expand its production facility in China

On 6th September 2011 the extension of the fourth production facility of VMI in Yantai (China) was celebrated. VMI Group organized two Seminars; one for representatives of the tire industry and another for representatives of the can making industry. The production in the VMI Yantai plant is focused on these two markets. Both the seminars and the Grand Opening Ceremony attracted numerous invitees from all over the world.

The Grand Opening Ceremony was attended by Chinese and Dutch officials, the Chinese and Dutch management of the VMI Group and TKH Group and many invited customers.

VMI Group started its business in China in the early 1980’s. VMI Yantai Ltd, a fully owned entity of VMI Holland BV was set up in 1996 in anticipation of the increasing business growth in Asia, providing equipment and after sales service for the Asian market.

The increasing recognition of the benefits of single stage tire building technology combined with VMI’s ability to offer cost effective solutions has increased sales to unprecedented levels. In order to continue serving the market to the high levels of excellence expected by VMI’s customers, the decision to further expand facilities in China was made. An assembly hall with a footprint of 7,200 m2 was completed in August 2011, and will increase the size of the Yantai factory complex to close to 30,000 m2.

The decision to expand the Yantai facility coincided with its accreditation to ISO14001 by Lloyds and the full integration of quality control systems with VMI’s head office in The Netherlands. This expansion of the global production facilities of the VMI Group emphasizes VMI’s confidence in sustainable further growth of the business.
